Separation of cellulose and super:absorber based on poly:acrylate

The invention relates to a method for preparing a mixture of cellulose and granulated polymer, strongly swellable in water, based on polyacrylate. The mixture is wetted, before further processing or valorisation, with a mixture consisting of an organic solvent capable of mixing with water, and water. The organic solvent, mixed with water in a certain mixing ratio, leads to an abrupt drop in the swelling degree and thus facilitates sieve separation between polymer material and cellulose. This method is preferably applied in the treatment of superabsorbent-cellulose mixtures in residues arising in the production of nappies.
