The toothbrush comprises a brush head-piece (2) connected to a handgrip (1) by a hinge joint (5). The inclination of the head-piece relative to the handgrip can be adjusted and the relative angle ( alpha ) between the handgrip longitudinal axis (10) and the head piece axis (11). The joint is formed by two engaging flat end faces (6,7) on the hand grip and brush head, these end faces being angled relative to the longitudinal axis. A pivot axis (12) at right angles to the end faces is formed by a journal on one end face, which engages into an aperture in the other face.
