The drive system is for use with such as a magnetic or an optical disc, and these are positioned on a spigot 4. A ring of magnetic material 5 is set into the spigot in order to retain the disc. The spigot is mounted on a motor 2 shaft 3 and this is retained in the bearings at each end. Any radial movement is prevented by applying a bias force that is provided by a magnetic plate 6 fixed to the drive base plate 1. The magnetic force 25 causes a tilting effect.
