Procedure for locating a mobile telephone and equipment for its implementation. The mobile telephone TM has an auxiliary module associated with it, which includes a microprocessor, a memory for storing coordinates, data or the like and a display screen. The invention proposes scanning a series of radio signals, e.g. S1 to S4, containing an identification, which is received from the said mobile telephone TM, originating from different surrounding transmitting centres E1, E4, of different types (terrestrial, satellite, etc.), selecting a specified number of these signals, setting their parameters and sending them as data signals PS1 to PS4 to a service centre CS where the coordinates are calculated, which are sent back from the CS to the TM in the form of data CTM. The equipment includes an auxiliary module for scanning, selecting and processing the signals to be sent. <IMAGE>
