A chip resistor is provided with an insulating substrate (1), a pair of main electrodes (2 and 3) separately formed on the surface of the substrate (1), a resistance film (4) formed on the surface of the substrate (1) so that the film (4) can bridge the gap between the electrodes (2 and 3) and having a trimming groove (6) for adjusting the resistance value, protective coatings (5, 7, and 8) formed to cover the film (4), and plating metallic films (13 and 14) formed so that the films (13 and 14) may be connected electrically to the electrodes (2 and 3). The width of the groove (6) is 80 mu m or more and is narrower than the interval between the electrodes (2 and 3). |
