The locking device has respective connection shafts (VW1,VW2) on either side (FS1,FS2) of the switchboard, each extending at right angles to the plane of switchboard side and joined together via a pair of coupling rods extending parallel to the switchboard sides and a common coupling shaft. Each coupling shaft cooperates with a control device adjacent each field side, for manual control and/or indication of the earth function.
