<p>A request for an alternative billing telephone is received in telephone network (512) with necessary billing information obtained from an originator (514). An authorization validation request is initiated at a local BNS (516). If the BNS authorization is denied, the call is terminated before any LIDB costs are incurred by the phone company (518). If a requested phone line is busy (522), or if the phone rings a predetermined number of times without answer (524), the call is terminated. If not, the system continues to ring (524). If, instead, an off-hook condition is detected (524), an LIDB query is initiated (526). A determination is made regarding LIDB authorization (528). If LIDB authorization is denied, the call is terminated. If LIDB authorization is granted, the parties are connected for conversation (530). Upon detection of an on-hook condition, the phone system terminates the call (532).</p> |
