T o provide a molded surface fastener which is made from thermoplastic synthetic resin that can be molded efficiently and easily by a general injection molding, extrusion or continuous injection, which has enough engaging strength even if it is a substantially L-shape engaging element of minute size, which can engage with minute-size loops reliably, and which is good in durability, and to provide the method and apparatus for manufacturing the same. Means for solving after a primary-intermediate surface fastener (SF') is molded in which a multiplicity of engaging elements (2) of hook shape stand on a plate-like substrate sheet (1) by a general continuos injection molding, an engaging head (22) of the engaging element (2) is pressed, heated and softened from the upper side by a heating and pressing means (9) so as to form protuberances (22') bulging from opposite sides of the engaging head (22)
