A method for restoring a disrupted telecommunication path comprises five phases: a notification phase (304) where the path's source and destination nodes are notified of the disruption, a broadcast phase (306) where the network is flooded with PACK messages using selective rebroadcasting to locate restoration paths, a path trace-out phase (308) where bandwidth is conservatively reserved along restoration paths, a confirmation phase (310) where restoration paths are built up along the traced-out paths, and clean-up phase (312) where the network resources that were allocated to the restoration process and that are no longer needed are released.
|
