A cover fitment for mounting on a vehicle battery case which is itself attached to a chassis member (12) at the side of eg an articulated tractor unit (10) is moulded as a one-piece component (21, 22) in high impact on tough plastic eg polystyrol, ABS or glass-reinforced nylon. The fitment (21, 22) is supported in a fixed cradle (not shown) on the chassis runner (12) using the spigot projections (25) and is removed below by a pair of wing nuts (not shown) which tighten against the battery casing. The top surface (21) has grooved non-slip serrations (23), as have the two treads (35, 36) which are rivetted/screwed (38) to the side-checks (27, 28) to provide a 3-step mounting-aid for access to the cab (13) or other parts of the tractor unit (10). |
