Milling method with laser assistance

The laser assisted reaming method involves directing a laser beam onto the piece being reamed just in front of the reaming tool. This heats up a zone in the piece parallel to a predetermined cutting section. The laser beam is then displaced longitudinally on the piece in the same direction and at the same speed Vf of the reaming tool advance speed. The heated zone can be a first stage and/or a second critical zone (12,13) located just upstream of the inlet (11) and outlet points of the reaming tool cutting edge. The heated zone can also be a zone of width equal to that of the cutting zone.
