A method of sorting channels of television is provided which edits the channels of television by broadcasting station names and special subjects of the corresponding broadcasting stations to sort them. The channel sorting method includes the steps of editing the channel numbers, broadcasting station names of corresponding channels and special subjects of corresponding channels, sorting by the broadcasting station names, subjects or channel numbers according to a selection of a user to display picture menus in accordance with the edited contents for each sorting item, and, when a specific channel number is selected through the picture menu, automatically tuning a channel corresponding to the selected channel number.
