Swivel roller bearing with integrated sensor

The bearing has a fixed inner ring (1) and a moving outer ring (2). Rolling elements (5) are located between races (7,9) formed in the surfaces of the two rings. The inner ring has a fixing groove (10). A peripheral groove (11) is provided in the external surface of the fixed inner ring to receive a magnetic coder (3). The coder has alternate north and south poles and is formed from an inner stainless steel magnetised ribbon supporting an outer plasto-ferrite magnetised ribbon. Two sensors (4) located in the outer moving ring (2) are used to detect position and angular speed. Protection (15,17) is provided against dust and grease.
