Cosmetic or dermatological topical composition, in the form of an aqueous gel comprises: (a) 0.1-20 wt.% of at least one non-crosslinked acrylic copolymer with a hydrophobic chain; (b) 0.01-1 wt.% of a surfactant; and (c) 0.0001-5 wt.% of a ceramide or a ceramide-type compound of formula R1-CO-N(R4)-CH(R3)-CH(R5)-OR2 (I). R1 = 9-30 C hydrocarbon (optionally unsaturated and optionally substituted by at least one OH which may optionally be esterified with a 16-30C optionally unsaturated fatty acid) or R6-(NR7-CO)n-R8-;R6,R8 = optionally unsaturated 4-30C hydrocarbon group; provided that the sum of the C atoms in R6 and R8 is 8-60; R7 = H or hydroxyethyl; n = 0 or 1; R2 = H , -(glycosyl)m, -(galactosyl)p or -sulphogalactosyl; m = 1-4; p = 1-8; R3 = H, 15-27 C hydrocarbon (optionally branched by at least one 1-14 C alkyl) or 12-26C alpha -hydroxyalkyl or alpha -hydroxyalkenyl (both optionally esterified by 16-30C alpha -hydroxyacid and optionally substituted by at least one OH); R4 = H, optionally unsaturated 16-27C hydrocarbon or -CH2-CHOH-CH2-OR9; R9 = optionally unsaturated 10-26C hydrocarbon; and R5 = H or optionally unsaturated 1-4C mono- or polyhydroxylated hydrocarbon.
