<p>The pointer device for use with a host computer may have various shapes, but can be made in a similar manner to a normal computer mouse, with a ball (3) retained in its cage by a cover (2). A keypad (6) is situated in a seating provided in the lower surface of the body of the mouse, with the depth of the seating being chosen to ensure that the keys do not touch the surface when the mouse is used conventionally. The pointer body also includes a micro-circuit coupler card which is able to read a contactless card introduced into a slot provided in the side wall of the mouse body. This can accept two types of card, and includes provision for identifying and verifying the correct insertion of the card. The mouse body also includes a liquid crystal display in order to monitor transactions.</p> |
