<p>A microwave antenna (34) is insertable into a cardiovascular catheter (28) and is formed from a coaxial cable (41) including an inner conductor (100) and an inner insulator (102) with the inner insulator (102) having a reduced diameter portion (110) adjacent a distal end (29A) of the catheter. An antenna coil portion of the microwave antenna (34) is disposed about the reduced diameter portion (110) and has a first section (140), a second section (142), and a point intermediate to the first and second sections. The intermediate point is electrically connected to an outer conductor (104) of the coaxial cable (41). An impedance matching means (120) is connected to the inner conductor (100) and to the first section (140) of the antenna coil portion.</p> |
