A safety device (10) for an air-conditioning system has a pressure sensor (36, 136, 236) which monitors the pressure in a liquid/gas line (11, 111, 211) upstream of the expansion (Tx) value. If the pressure drops below a pre-set value due to a puncture (100), a valve (31, 131, 231) shuts off the line (11, 111, 211) to limit the escape of refrigerant gas to the passenger compartment (17) of the vehicle (15).
