A transmitting/receiving apparatus comprises a means for transmitting phase modulated signals and a receiver having a waveform shaper and a discriminator for determining the presence of binary 0 and 1 in the received signal. A unit period of time T is defined as representing a 0 and some integer multiple of this unit period to represent a 1. A leader code is provided and defines a reference bit of duration 2T. A high and subsequent low level of the signal are said to define a unit bit, measurement of the period of two successive unit bits is used to discriminate between 0 and 1. The above apparatus may be used to transmit inclination data of a remote detector with respect to a source from the detector back to a base computer, for example to move a cursor on a display screen. Alternatively a signal group of the data may be inverted and the signal groups regularly repeated. The coordinates of a source relative to a detector or vice versa may also be transmitted.
|
