A stackable electrical socket (10) has an insulating body (12) with a longitudinally extending bore (14) for receiving an electrical plug member. Electrical contact elements (30) extend partially into the bore (14) for contact with the plug member when inserted, such contact elements (30) having a leg part (42) accommodated in one of a pair of first (48) and second (54) slots so as to extend from that one slot outwardly of the body (12) for electrical connection. In this manner two similar insulating bodies (12,12') of stackable electrical sockets (10,10') can be stacked one on another so that the first (48) and second (52) slots of the overlying socket (10) each overlie one of a first (48') and second (52') slot of the underlying connector (10') and the leg part (42) of the overlying connector which is presented for electrical connection is received through one of the first (48') or second (52') slots which is vacant of a leg part (42') of the underlying socket (10) for the leg part (42) of the overlying socket to be presented for electrical connection from the underlying socket (10'). The leg part (42) of the overlying socket (10) being insulated by the body material of the underlying socket (10') from electrical contact with the leg part (42') of the underlying socket (10').
