PURPOSE: To improve heat resistance and oxidation resistance of a carbon- carbide ceramic spherical composite material by baking a mixture of carbon and carbide ceramic. CONSTITUTION: Mixed powder is obtained by blending 1 pt.wt. of carbon powder having <=50μm of the maximum particle diameter and <=10μm of the average particle diameter with 1-9 pts.wt. of carbide ceramic having <=50μm of the maximum particle diameter and <=10μm of the average particle diameter. The mixed powder is put in a container made of graphite, heat-treated in an inert gas atmosphere at 2,600-3,000 deg.C, formed spherical materials are separated to give the objective carbon-carbide ceramic spherical composite material having 5-2,000μm particle diameter, comprising the surface coated with carbon and the interior composed of a mixture of the carbon and the carbide ceramic in a small piece state. |
