PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a slider material of a nonmagnetic ceramic excellent in sliding characteristics and high in thermal expansion coefficient, comprising a composite material composed of specific amounts of a calcium ferrite crystal and a hematite crystal. SOLUTION: Raw material powder is mixed so as to prepare 78-85wt.% of a calcium ferrite (CaFe2 O4 or Ca2 Fe2 O5 ) crystal and 92.2-15wt.% of a hematite (α-Fe2 O3 ) crystal and is adjusted to <=1.0μm average particle diameter. The raw material powder is press molded, baked in an oxidizing atmosphere at <=1,150 deg.C to give the objective dense sintered compact without synthesizing a magnetic ferrite. A main component comprising calcium ferrite and hematite in an amount of 100 pts.wt. is optionally mixed with 0.1-5 pts.wt. of the total of at least one of MgO, TiO2 , MnO, SiO2 , ZrO2 and Al2 O3 . |
