PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically inspect the quality of a product immediately after issued from a calender. SOLUTION: The product 19 issued from a final calender roll is irradiated with laser beam 27 and the reflected beam 28 from the product 19 or the transmitted beam from the product 19 is detected and the detected quantity 31 of beam is compared with the threshold value 33 corresponding to the required quality of the product 19. When the detected quantity 31 of beam exceeds the threshold value, a flaw is judged.
