PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate problems such that a compound oxide, comprising silica and an iron compound and having the magnetism is conventionally unknown, a method by which the shape such as a scaly particle or a fibrous particle including a spherical particle having high monodispersity can optionally be controlled is further conventionally unknown, the baking of an iron oxide particle having the magnetism such asγ-Fe2 O3 or Fe3 O4 should be carried out under precisely controlled conditions of the atmosphere or a temperature in order to develop the magnetism and the magnetism is lost by heating at >=70 deg.C due to phase transition intoα-Fe2 O3 , etc. SOLUTION: A hydrolyzable organosilicon compound and a hydrolyzable organoiron compound are cohydrolyzed to form a compound oxide precursor, which is then baked at 400-1200 deg.C in a reducing atmosphere or at 700-1200 deg.C in an oxidizing atmosphere to produce a compound oxide particle, comprising silica and an iron compound as principal constituent components and having the magnetism.
