OBSTACLE POSITION SENSING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle position sensing system which can sense obstacles in a plurality of places with a high accuracy while the sensing resolution is heightened easily. SOLUTION: An optical fiber 3 is laid alongside a long stretching object to be inspected, and on this fiber 3 sensors 4 are laid to sense obstacle for the object, a physical change generated when any of the sensors 4 senses obstacle is fed to the optical fiber 3. A measuring instrument to measure the physical amount distribution along the optical fiber is connected with one end of the optical fiber 3, and the position of the obstacle is detected by the obtained distribution. The optical fiber 3 is laid in loop form in going to/from the object to be inspected so that it is possible to sense the position of obstacle from any of the ends of fiber 3.
