<p>A rotary internal combustion engine comprises a casing defining a chamber having an epitrochoidal profile with two lobes and a rotary element (5) disposed in the chamber and having three corners in each of which there is a radial seal (11) in which a sealing member (12) is fitted and is free to slide radially outwardly. Each sealing member (12) is substantially symmetrical with respect to a radial axis of symmetry (S-S) and is acted on by resilient means (18) for urging it, with a predetermined pressure loading, to fit tightly and bear with pressure against the internal wall (16) of the chamber. The engine advantageously comprises centrifugal masses (19) associated with the rotary element (5), arranged symmetrically with respect to the radial axes of symmetry (S-S), and acting on the sealing members (12) in order to oppose the action exerted on the sealing members by the centrifugal forces during the rotation of the rotary element (5).</p> |
