PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the charge and discharge cycle characteristic of a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having a large discharge capacity by containing at least one disc-like compound in the electrolyte of the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. SOLUTION: This nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is formed of a positive electrode containing a material capable of reversibly storing and releasing lithium, a negative electrode mainly consisting of amorphous chalcogen compound and/or amorphous oxide containing three or more kinds of atoms selected from atoms of groups 1, 2, 13, 14, 15 of the periodic table, a nonaqueous electrolyte containing lithium salt, and a separator. At least one disc-like compound is contained in the nonaqueous electrolyte. This disk-like compound contained in the nonaqueous electrolyte has a ring structure represented by either one of the formulas 1-6. |
