PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the quality of an outputted image at a toner saving mode. SOLUTION: In a toner saving mode, 200 lines are selected as a pulse width modulation mode at the step S1402 and a conversion table for the toner saving mode is selected at the step S1403. The conversion table determines the conversion rule for lowering the density of an outputting image signal such as the rule for halving. After that, binary dither treatment is applied to the image signal at the step S1404 and then converted to the outputting image signal by means of the conversion table for the toner saving mode so as to form an image in the pulse width modulation mode of the 200 lines at the step S1405. |
