PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to contactlessly add characters or the like by irradiating a picture recording medium obtained by successively laminating a hologram forming layer forming a hologram pattern and a protection layer having optical energy beam trans-missivity with an optical energy beam from the protection layer side. SOLUTION: The surface of a base material (protection layer) 7 of a recording medium 1 having a state recording hologram information 12 in a hologram forming part 11 is irradiated with a laser beam 9 converged by a condenser lens 8. Thereby optical energy is converted into heat energy by an information recording part 10 in a light/heat conversion layer 6 and heat is generated, so that an image formation layer 5 is melted. Thus additional information 13 is recorded in the layer 5 by modulating the intensity or irradiation time of the laser beam 9 by the recorded picture information. Although the generated heat is conducted also to the base material 7, a transluscent thin film layer 4 and a hologram formation layer 3, the quantity of energy is controlled so as not to melt a hologram pattern.
