PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the useless consumption of a battery in teletext broadcast. SOLUTION: A switch element 63 is connected between the power line of a decoder circuit 41 which outputs data, such as character information, etc., by deciding encoded signals from a reception circuit 10 and the power source 61 of the circuit 41. A first state where the switch element 63 is turned on for a prescribed first period and a second state where the element 63 is turned off for a prescribed second period are alternately repeated and, at the same time, a microcomputer 20 discriminates whether or not the character information can be received normally during the first period. When it is discriminated that the character information can be received normally, the element 63 is continuously kept in a turned-on state. When it is decided that the character information cannot be received normally, the first and second states are alternately repeated. |
