PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an image free from color slurring without being affected by the meandering of an endless belt by controlling the switching of the moving direction of the endless belt by a switching means at the timing of 1/n of a time for making the endless belt pass through latent image forming means. SOLUTION: A light emitting element 28a and a light receiving element 28b are arranged at the edge part of the endless belt 2 so as to optically detect the position of the endless belt 2 in the width direction at a prescribed sampling period. Besides, the driving force of a step motor 32 is transmitted to a meandering control roller 30, the roller 30 is positioned at a prescribed angular position at a prescribed switching period. By such a constitution, in the case the circumferential speed of the endless belt is 10cm/see and a reference length is 10cm, the mutual arrangement distance with reference to 1st to 4th latent image forming means 12, 14, 16 and 18 is designed so that it may be integral multiple of the reference length. And the latent image is formed by the latent image forming means 12, 14, 16 and 18 on the endless belt 2 at a fixed timing. Since the same point on the endless belt 2 is successively positioned at the fixed timing, the occurrence of color slurring is prevented. |
