The security lock comprises a mortise which is intended to receive the bolt or lock mechanism which is fitted to a door. The mortise comprises a base plate (1) which is attached to the door frame, with a rectangular sleeve (2) attached to the plate providing a sliding channel in which a mobile mortise block (3) is housed, and an alarm device (25) for signalling or indicating state of the lock. The mortise block is able to slide in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the door, but is restrained by the action of springs (13) mounted around bolts (14). The mortise block may also have a plate (15) attached, defining the aperture within which the bolt is received.
