The invention concerns a precipitator for removing liquids, in particular pollutants such as oil spray, from a stream of gas, the precipitator having a channel system, made up of plates, through which the gas stream is passed from the inlet side to the outlet side. The gas stream impinges on some of the plates, which form at least two chambers, an inlet chamber (2) and an outlet chamber (3), inside a surrounding tubular wall (4). The gas stream passes through the two chambers one after the other, the chambers being separated from each other by at least one dividing wall (16), running along the axis of the tubular wall, with apertures (10) connecting the two chambers.
