Heavy current switch with opposite-facing plane contact discs in gas-tight housing

The switch has contact discs 12 formed on the surfaces of a pair of carriers 22 that have a conical shape and fit into holes 30 in main support blocks 34,36. The contacts are located in a gas-tight enclosure that is formed by a ring shape diaphragm 16. This is produced of a flexible electrically isolating material that has formed sealing rings 28. The rings fit into a groove in the support blocks and are securely clamped by tightening of centre bolts 62.
