Two=piece flexible drive shaft

A two-section semi-flexible shaft couple forms part of a drive train for e.g. a diesel engines or ship's propulsion system. The first part of the drive is a circular flange with inward-directed projections at intervals of 120 degrees interlinking with the matching outward-directed projections of a second-stage flange to a shaft. The interfaces between the projections bear elastic pressure-pieces. Those on the inward-directed projections have concave surfaces running parallel to the main linkage axis. The elastic pressure-pieces on the outward-directed projections in the second half, have concave surfaces. Each pair of concave and convex elastic projections is linked by a torqued flexible bolt recessed partly in each respective elastic pressure-piece and projection and permitting limited play between the components.
