A material powder for color cosmetics which can design a single color powder for mascara and eyebrow pencil and can absorb ultraviolet and infrared rays harmful to the skin. A light powder which can be dispersed in a fluid to prepare a material for an electrorheology fluid, particularly a material for a color fluid. A multilayer coated powder comprising a powder nucleus particle (1) having a specific gravity of 0.1 to 10.5, such as an acrylic resin particle or an inorganic hollow particle and a plurality of thin coatings (such as a titanium dioxide layer, a titania layer, a polystyrene layer, or a metallic silver layer) (2,3) provided on the surface of the nucleus particle (1), the thin coatings being different from each other in refractive index.
