SUBSEA CONNECTION

A connection is disclosed which is particularly applicable to subsea wellheads. A female receptacle end (56) is provided on the wellhead which has connections on it to an umbilical or a flowline. The male end (10) has an orientation lug (14) for rough orientation. Once rough orientation is made, the male end (10) is advanced into female end (56) and the shaft (34) rotated by a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) for alignment of lugs with a dent (40, 42, 62, 64). Once the lugs advance past the dent, they are rotated so that a segment of the shaft (34) on the male end of the connection no longer turns. Further rotational movement by the ROV on another portion of the shaft advances a plate (22) which makes up the connection, either for the umbilical or the flowline.
