A procedure for making plate blocks for lead accumulators has the surfaces of the plate lugs mechanically treated with brushes below the liquid alloy level in a bath with molten lead/tin alloy before the casting process. The electrode plates are afterwards removed from the bath. As a material for the mesh of the electrode plates, lead/calcium alloy or lead/antimony alloy is used. As bath material, a lead/tin alloy with a tin content of between 40% and 70% by weight is used. For the casting process, a lead alloy with a tin content of between 0.5% and 5% by weight is used.
