The linear drive has a rotary cable drum (14) carrying a wound cable (11) tensioned between the opposite sides of the linearly displaced body (3) in the displacement direction. The cable drum is secured to the holder (1) for guiding the movement of the displaced body and provided with peripheral guide channels for the cable. Provided with the drum are guiding grooves to guide the cable. The rotation of the drum is provided via an electric motor (21) attached to the holder via a conversion gearing (20).
