The device for monitoring the tyre pressure on a vehicle, during movement, is based on the vibration of the stub axle (12) to which the air-filled tyres (14) are attached. An acceleration sensor (23), comprising a piezoelectric crystal (24) and a known value weight (26), is mounted on the axle and linked to an electronic analyser (32). This identifies the vibration characteristics of the axle, which corresponds to the pressure in the tyres. The analyser determines whether the pressure is correct, by comparison with a pre-entered reference pattern of vibration. If deviation exceeds a given threshold, a signal is emitted. The system allows for permanent monitoring of the tyre pressure.
