PANEL MATERIAL AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

A panel material having a small weight, high rigidity, impact resistance and cutting processability, and excellent screw receiving characteristics, and capable of being cut to a predetermined size, and a method of manufacturing the same. This panel material uses (A) two molded FRP plates as upper and lower surface members, and (B) a high-density hard polyurethane foam layer as a core member formed between the two molded FRP plates by injection foaming, and having closed cells and a density of 0.2-0.5 g/cm. A method of manufacturing this panel includes the step of obtaining a sandwiched panel by injection foaming a raw hard polyurethane foam material in a gap between the two molded FRP plates set in a metal mold and thereby molding the foam material with these plates, and producing a sandwiched panel material by cutting this sandwiched panel to a predetermined size. This panel material can be used suitably, especially for floor materials for vehicles, such as a truck, a bus, railway vehicles and a cargo container.
