Device for laying sheets on stack, particularly for sheet printing machines

In the delivery of a printing press, a suction device 28 is arranged adjacent to the rear edge of a sheet delivery pile 8 and is vertically movable, upwards and downwards 12 in the rhythm of the press, and an air blowing device (13, Fig 1) is situated above the pile 8. The suction device 28 consists of a guide plate 31 with suction openings 10 extending over the maximum format width of a processable sheet 4, which are coupled with a suction source 15. A sheet brake 5 which is adjustable in the sheet feed direction 3 comprises either a suction roller or a suction bar (30, Fig 2) and slows the sheets 4 down as they are dropped by a gripper 2 onto the pile 8. The suction device 28 may incorporate further lower suction openings 11, also vertically movable, and may be fixed to the sheet brake 5 whereupon the sheet brake 5 is also vertically movable.
