A fan device includes a motor 20 rotatably secured in a housing 10 and a number of fan blades 30 secured to the motor 20 and driven by the motor 20. The housing 10 has a number of holes 12 formed in an inner wall 11 for reducing the noise that may be generated by the motor 20 and the fan blades 30. As shown, the housing 10 includes an outer peripheral wall 15 for forming a chamber 14 between the walls 11, 15 and for receiving a noise reducing material 16. The fan blades 30 may each include one or more panels (32, figs 3, 4, not shown) of wood, plastics or metal, and one or more sheets (33) of noise reducing material (e.g. fibrous or porous materials) for reducing the noise. The panel (32) may include a number of apertures (38) for reducing the noise. |
