<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-resistant polyvinyl alcohol resin compsn. which is excellent in water resistance and safety by compounding specified amts. of a specific PVA resin and a specific N-aminopolyacrylamide. SOLUTION: This compsn. comprises 100 pts.wt. PVA resin which is produced by, e.g. saponifying a copolymer of a monomer having an acetone group (e.g. diacetoneacrylamide) and a vinyl ester (e.g. vinyl acetate) and has 0.1-20mol% diacetone groups on the side chains, a number-average mol.wt. of pref. 300-3,000, and a degree of saponification of 85mol% or higher and 0.1-20 pts.wt., pref. 0.5-15 pts.wt. N-aminopolyacrylamide which is produced by, e.g. reacting polyacrylamide with hydrazine hydrate and has a number-average degree of polymn. of 30 or higher but pref. not higher than 300,000.</p> |
