<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain footwear having a combination of the feature of a rather thick upper with a good moisture permeability by covering a window through the upper with a material nonpermeable to liquids but permeable to water vapor. SOLUTION: A member 3 nonpermeable to liquids but permeable to moisture is attached to the wall of a vamp using a socket 7. The moisture-permeable material is, for example, a stretched porous polytetrafluoroethylene and is preferably covered with a protective layer of a material different therefrom. These layers secure perspiration of the foot and are joined in a manner wherein parts suitable for insertion of the instep are formed. Thus, a piece of footwear having a combination of the feature of a rather thick vamp and a good moisture-permeability can be obtained.</p> |
