PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve picture quality of blanket character and devitrification property in speedy treatment which uses stable developer of less than pH11. SOLUTION: In a black and white silver halide photosensitive material having at least one layer of silver halide emulsion layer on a support body, emulsion halide contains a silver halide grain which contains at least one kind of metal selected from among VIII group transition metal and rhenium and has silver chloride content of 90 to 100 mol% and contains at least one kind of hydrazine derivative and amine compound and onium salt compound on an emulsion layer side. It has a hydrophilic colloid layer containing at least one layer of dyestuff which is solid-dispersed on the emulsion layer side on the support body, and average grain diameter of the solid-dispersed dyestuff is within±90% for the diameter of silver halide particle.
