PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carbon block-contg. rubber compsn, which is useful for preparing a tire tread rubber compsn. excellent in the tanδbalance of vulcanizate by dissolving a raw rubber selected from among polymers having specific functional groups bonded to the polymer chains in an org. solvent, bringing the resultant soln. into contact with a carbon black, and compounding the resultant mixture with an org. solvent. of a raw rubber selected from among diene rubbers. SOLUTION: This compsn, is prepd. by dissolving a raw rubber selected from among polymers having functional groups represented by the formula and bonded to the polymer chains directly or through other groups of atoms (e.g. a rubber obtd. by reacting N-methylpyrrolidone with a living anionic polymer obtd, by copolymerizing 1,3-butadiene with styrene in the presence of n- butyllithum in an org. solvent (e.g. toluene), bringing the resultant soln. into contact with a carbon black, and compounding the resultant mixture with an org. solvent (e.g. toluene) soln. of a raw rubber selected from among diene rubber (e.g. an emulsion-polymerized styrene-butadiene copolymer).
