PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct AF control in a short time with high accuracy in the case that a high resolution image is obtained through picture element deviation. SOLUTION: At first an image signal from a solid-state image pickup element 102 passes through a selector 103 and is processed by a color demodulation separate circuit 108, an RGB image memory 110 and a process circuit 109. A band pass filter 117 and an integration circuit 118 obtain an AF control variable from the processed image signal and a focus control section 119 conducts control based thereon to set a focusing state. While a mobile control means 127 deviates picture elements, image pickup is repeated and a plurality of the image signals to be picked up are processed through the selector 103 by a complementary color image memory 107 and the process circuit 109 to be high resolution image signals. The AF control variable is obtained again from the high resolution image signals and focusing state is obtained again. |
