PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to sufficiently develop the dynamical characteristics by sufficiently and uniformly impregnating with resin. SOLUTION: After a non-twisted continuous fiber bundle is opened so that an opening index F defined by the following formula F=W/DN, where F is opening index, W is width (mm) of the bundle, D is diameter (mm) of continuous fiber monofilament, N is the number of the monofilaments, the width of the bundle is measured in the state of the condition of winding yarn, and that immediately after the opening process is measured in the state of the outlet of the processing unit, becomes 0.5 to 3, the opened bundle is impregnated with a thermoplastic resin to obtain the long fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin composite material. As the opening process of the bundle, a method having the steps of introducing continuous fiber bundle from the direction substantially perpendicular to gas stream into the stream flowing at a mean flowing velocity of 10 to 50m/sec, and passing while giving a slack of 1 to 50mm per the length of 10mm along the passing direction is preferably adopted. |
