PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robot route setting method and a device therefor capable of quickly and efficiently generating a required route function and reducing the memory space for storing the route function. SOLUTION: A shape/parameter determining part 2 inputs the shape informationγof a work 3 to be worked including a working routeδout of all the degrees of freedom of operation to be obtained by a robot concerned, selects a specific degree of operation freedom directly related to the determination of the robot operation and determines/outputs a function shape and a parameterεcorresponding to the selected specific operation freedom degree and a route function generating part 1 inputs the function shape and the parameter outputted from the determining part 2 and generates/outputs a route functionβ.
