PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a controlling agent for noxious aquatic organisms, an underwater antifouling coating material and a treating agent for fishing nets having low toxicity and the persistence of antifouling effects for a long period by using a specific boron complex as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: The controlling agent for noxious aquatic organisms, antifouling coating material and treating agent for fishing nets comprise a diaryl(pyridinio or isoquinolinio) boron complex represented by formula I X is F, a lower alkyl or a lower alkoxy; (n) is 0-1; R is a lower alkyl, a lower alkoxy, OH or a halogen; R' is a pyridine, 5,6,7,8-tetrahydroisoquinoline or an isoquinoline represented by formula II [Y is a halogen, a lower alkyl, etc.; (m) is 0-2]} as an active ingredient. The compound represented by formula I, e.g. a compound represented by formula III is obtained by reacting an ethanolamine ester of a diarylboric acid represented by formula IV with an alkylmagnesium halide, providing an intermediate represented by formula V (Z is Cl or Br) and then reacting the resultant intermediate with a (substituted) pyridine. The compound represented by formula I is preferably further used together with a copper compound. |
